About CVCraftery
What it does
CVCraftery is a free, no-signup resume builder that helps job seekers get past Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) — the software that screens resumes before a human ever reads them. You paste your resume details and the job description you are targeting; CVCraftery extracts the keywords the employer is looking for, scores how well your resume matches, and generates a polished PDF or DOCX file with those keywords naturally incorporated.
When AI enhancement is enabled, the professional summary and skills sections are rewritten by a large language model to read naturally while hitting the right keywords — not just mechanically appended. A cover letter tailored to the specific job can also be generated in one click.
Why it is free
CVCraftery started as a hobby project — something built on weekends out of frustration with how opaque ATS systems are for most job seekers. It grew into something worth sharing. There are no ads, no paywalls, and no account required. It is free because it was never meant to be a business.
Technology
The tool is built with Java and Spring Boot. Resume parsing supports PDF and DOCX uploads via Apache PDFBox and Apache POI. PDF generation uses OpenPDF with three selectable layouts (Classic, Modern, Minimal). AI features are powered by Google Gemini, Groq (Llama), or Anthropic Claude depending on configuration.
Who built it
CVCraftery was built and is maintained by an independent developer as a personal hobby project. No team, no company — just someone who wanted a better resume tool and decided to build one.
